What is DEXA

It is also known as BMD scan, bone mineral density scan, dual energy x-ray absorptiometric scan, dual x-ray absorptiometry, and DXA. DEXA is used to measure bone density. Main purpose of DEXA is to measure weekness of your bones or risk of fracture. Basically it measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone.
